Yesterday was a great day for our Nation! A brand new President and a new hope for the future. This is one of the things that makes America great. A smooth transition of power. How many countries would changed heads of state so peacefully and politely?
What is amazing is how far America has come in such a short time. I personally feel we elected the best man for the job. Who happens to be African American. To think this man 150 years ago would be a slave, 60 years ago he would not be allowed into restaurants to eat, enter into the polls to vote, be able to learn in a non segregated school, or be able to play sports in a non segregated league.
America has come from slavery 150 years ago, to open racism and open prejudice 60 years ago, to now closed racism and prejudice. I still believe we have a long way to go, but on days like yesterday it is good to see where we have come from. May we all do what is right and have hope for a bright future.
