Baseball's Opening Day is the best day in all sports. Reason be everyone has a shot at the World Series and a potential at being a champion! You can't say that in any other professional sport. I guess it is because they play a hundred some odd games.
I will grant it we do have very few teams that are out of the running like the Pittsburgh Pirates but it is because they have chosen it that way.
Look at the history the last couple of years: The Champions 2004 Boston Red Sox, 2005 Chicago White Sox, 2006 St. Louis Cardinals, 2007 Boston Red Sox, 2008 Philadelphia Philles, 2009 new york yankees, and 2010 San Francisco Giants. None of these were picked to win the World Series!
What is even more interesting is to look at their opponents/runners up: 2004 St Louis Cardinals, 2005 Houston Astros, 2006 Detroit Tigers, 2007 Colorado Rockies, 2008 Tampa Bay Rays, 2009 Philadelphia Philles, and 2010 Texas Rangers. The diversity is amazing!
Any year anybody can win it and that is what makes baseball great! GO RED SOX!!!
