An End of an Era

I am going to miss Varitek! Talk about a leader!
What has he done?

• Caught 4 no hitters, A MLB record. He almost had 5 but one was not counted because of a rain delay.

• Four all-star appearances
• Golden Glove Award
• Silver Slugger Award
• 256 Batting Average
• 193 home runs
• 757 runs batted in

These are not Hall of Fame achievements, he doesn't have Hall of Fame numbers, but what this guy has is the epitome of the Boston Red Sox. He is a blue collar ball player!! A gamer!! He gives you all he has and then finds some more. He is the Captain!

He sparked the come from behind rally to beat the Yankees in June of 2004. How did he do it! He simply put A-Rod in his place. That rally sparked not only a come back but was the turning point in the 2004 season. After "the fight" the Red Sox posted the best record for the rest of that season and won their first World Series in 86 years.

Thank You Jason! Not only have you added to the greatest rivalry in sports. You showed us how the game for supposed to be played and you played it with class. You will be missed!
